Patch or Replace the hood on my car? Auto body question?
Lala asked:
I have a rust hole about 2 inches in diameter at the front center of my car's hood.
I have a rust hole about 2 inches in diameter at the front center of my car's hood.
Is it possible to have it patched? Would it be worth it? or more expensive then just replacing it.
I've called junk yards looking for the same hood… haven't had any luck yet.

It can be fixed , but my question to you is. Why did you let it get so big and what took you so long ?

What make model?
2 inches is repairable…you'll need to pick up a tub of bondo (a 3M product) at the local car repair shop (autozone, etc.). If you read the instructions, and don't breathe in the fumes too much, it's pretty straight forward. I'd recommend grinding and removing as much of the rust as possible before applying the putty. Good luck!

your best bet is to replace it but if you can't find one (check Ebay motors ) salvage cars then it can be patched . but it could cost as much as 300.00 to 400.00 dollars.

is it just minor rust, or is it really bad? if its only very very minor, just sand it and hit it with primer to stop the rust until you can get a good paint job
