How much will a junk yard charge for a fender on a Ford Focus?
PlasticTrees asked:
I can not find the part in any local salvage yard. If I were to find one, in another city, about how much is it going to cost typically? I'm trying to figure out if I should buy one from ebay instead of driving 3 hours for one.

Most of the larger salvage yards are linked and can order parts. Look for one that can. You won't get it cheap, because when people wreck cars the front is usually what goes. This is the kind of part that's in demand, and not usually available off a wreck. You might have to look for an aftermarket replacement.

That's what I was gonna say (ok , I'm repeating everyone here)
On Ebay, you don't know what you are getting sometimes, Buyer Beware there…
Junk yards are usually half price of factory list…. which is $160 list so about $80 for a junkyard one you will probably have to bondo up anyway
There are sites set up by Ford dealers, selling body parts such as fordparts.com, that sell them at Body shop prices (such as a fender for a 02 for $120)
Aftermarket auto body places such as keystone mentioned above are an alternative. Fit, and weight are not like a factory fender but if you are worried more about price than exact fitment, these fenders usually come in cheaper… CAPA certified means that the fit and finish is supposed to meet industry standards and that is why it costs more.
