Can you really buy a cheap car from the junk yard?

In the movies you see people buy a $200-$300 cheap car from the junk yard then fix it up a little bit. Hopefully i get my license Wednesday but i don't have a car. Does anyone know where to get a cheap car? And can you really get a cheap car from the junk yard.

Absolutely! But you add on money pretty quickly fixing it up! I suggest looking on eBay or craigslist in your area. Or local used car sales. You would be surprised how cheap a running car can be.. as long as you aren't aiming for looks!

You really have to be mechanically inclined, and be very patient. And make sure that the vehicle has a clear title.
Personally, unless you are very good with cars and engines, I would spend a little more and get something a little more expensive.

Yes but it might not have an engine or any wheels. It has to be roadworthy and pass state inspection and be insurable. Those places are called a junkyard for a reason; you will be buying JUNK.
Use your money to buy a NEW bicycle.

Most junkyard cars don't run. Those that do could quit at any time.
And I highly doubt any junkyard would sell a running car for $300.
They pay $100-300 for non-running cars plus auction fees at the auctions I used to go to.
